Strategy
When you have your cities with
all the improvements you want, (i.e. your biggest and
oldest cities) and have nothing to build, build palaces
until your next scientific breakthrough allows a wonder,
then change from palace to wonder and bang almost done
When you are researching sciences,
when the research time is down to 1 reduce the percentage
of money going to science and still complete in one turn
When you start the game, try to
settle your first city in a resourceful place so it grows
rapidly and, with this, you can start building 2 or 3
workers. After that, build 1 or 2 warriors to defend it
(or scouts to discover the map) and then start building
settlers and settlers and settlers non-stop. Don't hesitate
in sending your settlers to the most distant places too,
because in this way you have epicenters in the most of
your geography.
Mutual protection pacts (MPP's)
have there uses and where feasible I do suggest using
them, however making MPP's can also have a downside. you
need to choose who you sign the pact with very carefully.
don't side with a nation who always seems to be at war
with someone else otherwise you'll find yourself dragged
into every conflict with them which slowly drain your
resources. another point with MPP's is when choosing which
civ your going to side with, also make a point of which
other civs they may have pacts with. in many of my games,
everyone has multiple MPP's and when two nations start
a minor conflict it soon escalates into a world war and
you don't want to find yourself outnumbered by enemies
simply because you chose the wrong ally. when making peace,
after a long war in which multiple allies are taking part,
make sure that you have cancelled any mutual protection
pacts witch might have expired so you don't get dragged
back into the conflict the very next turn!
when ever you have a little extra
cash and time, build a soldier and put him away in a corner,
and before you know it you will have one mighty army!!
Never sign mutual protection pacts!
Whenever I sign it, the player I sign it with goes to
war with my allies forcing me to kill my ally and wreck
my reputation.
For the war mongers,Germany
is a must. And u may be lucky to get a HERO or more and
be able to complete the WONDER before everyone else. (being
an ass does work)
when a competing civ asks for something,
clear the table and ask what they will give you for it.
The 'or else' reply turns into their original offer plus
whatever gold they have on hand
Start the game with Japan. I chose
Japan because it's tech is the fastest and it has the
powerful Samurai.
I just recently
learned about a horseman having a "zone of control".
But, I have learned from experience (get my butt kicked)
that the best thing to do is find the enemy as soon as
you can. Then position troops as to build a wall of troops,
creating a border. the enemy will turn away from this
wall. you can even maneuver troops to drive the enemy
out of an area or trap them into an area. so they will
not bother you again.
Cheat
Enter leemur as your leader
name, and you will get 100k gold!
There is another money making cheat you can use and not
have to be Egyptian. All you have to do is trade a rival
civ a technology or resource they need, in exchange for
an outrageous amount of money per turn (ex. 2 followed
by as many zeros' as will fit). They somehow accept the
deal no matter how much money they have. I've found that
it wont work with certain civs' so try it on a few different
civs before you give up.
When saving your game after the comma and before the date
e.g. 1879AD add the word "multi" then load the
game. all the map is now visible and all the future resources
can now be seen on the map.
Just ask your opponents for 10000062 gold per turn.
You'll have it prompt.
Here's an interesting cheat. When you want to rush
buy at low cost, use this. In the city window, rush buy
a worker, cost is 80 gold. Now, without closing the city
window, switch the item to something else, and rush buy
again. You will get the item at a much lower cost than
if you had rush bought it without buying the worker first.
For instance, a settler costs 240 gold if rush bought.
If you buy the worker, and then the settler, it will cost
a total of 160 gold for the settler. An airport goes for
360 total, a temple for 160, etc. You can save HUGE amounts
of gold on big items like hospitals (normally 900 gold,
460 using the cheat) This works in Version 1.79, I haven't
tried it anyplace else.
